Let's Go Back to the Bible

If Enoch disappeared today, would we look for him?

The account of the life of Enoch in Scripture is rather short, yet there are tremendous lessons to be learned from this man who walked with God. Consider one lesson from Hebrews 11:5. “By faith Enoch was taken away…and was not found, because God had taken him…” Three things: Enoch was with God; Enoch was taken away by God; somebody (or several “somebodies”) looked but could not find Enoch because he was with God.

I want to flip this verse a bit and ask you a question. Consider if this verse were written about some of our weak and straying brethren. “Without faith brother/sister so-and-so fell away…and was not found, because the devil had taken him/her away.” Three things: Weak or straying brother/sister so-and-so is without God; brother/sister so-and-so is taken away by the devil; sometimes nobody looks for them, so they are not found.

Question: Are we walking with God? Only if we go looking for one who strays from walking with us.
