Let's Go Back to the Bible

His natural inclination

A person’s natural inclination (also known as a person’s bent) is the particular manner in which a person reacts to various life situations.  Some people’s natural inclination/bent is to fight, while others is to draw back; some will complain, while others will stew; many will tend to worry, while others will just laugh it off.  What is your natural inclination?  You’ve got one.  2019-05-20-His-natural-inclination

May I suggest a Bible character whose natural inclination is one we ought to imitate?  No matter what he faced, Nehemiah’s inclination (his bent) was always to do one thing.  Take a moment and read Nehemiah 1:4-11; 2:4; 4:4-5, 9; 5:19; 6:9, 13:14, 22, 29, 31.  Every time he turned around…every time something came up…every time he faced some difficulty, Nehemiah’s natural bent was to pray!  Draw back?  No.  Complain?  No.  Worry?  No.  Pray?  Yes!

Would you like to tell someone how bad things are going?  How poorly someone treated you?  How miserable you feel?  Talk to God!  Make that your natural inclination in all situations!  – DS
