The apostle Paul was trying to encourage the brethren in Philippi and was wanting them to continue to find true joy in serving Christ. Sometimes it is easy for the world to distract us and cause us to forget all of the reasons that we have to rejoice as Christians. Among the many great joys that we have in Christ is this reminder: “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Phil. 1:6).
If you are IN Christ, then remain confident that God “has begun a good work IN you.” He is at work in you, “both to will and to do for His good pleasure” (Phil. 2:12-13). His power is at work within us (Eph. 3:20-21), for His Word is “effectively” at work in us (1 Thess. 2:13).
Secondly, remain confident that if God has “begun a good work in you” that He “will complete it until the day of Christ.” God is not going to give up on you! God doesn’t have any quit in Him! He will finish what He started! So, the question is, Will you? Let’s find true joy in Him!
