How much do you “love” the things of this world and the things of this life? Meaning, how much are you devoting yourself to the things of this world and the things of this life? The devil makes it so easy and so appealing to “think” that we are good with God, while at the same time we are pursuing all of the things of this world and this life. Perhaps even the devil leads us to ignore reminders like this article and repeated appeals in Scripture.
We find that word “love” in 1 John 2:15 – “Do not love the world or the things in the world.” Of course, we know we are not to do that. But do we? Look at your day. Look at your week. How much of it is devoted to “the things in the world” and how much is devoted to the things of God? The rest of the verse says, “If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” Are we willing to risk “the love of the Father” being in us?
Friends, let’s examine ourselves. Let’s make sure that the devil hasn’t duped us into loving this world!
