Let's Go Back to the Bible

Ladies’ Day—the Greatest One in Our History

There are no words to adequately describe how wonderful the 28th Annual Ladies’ Day was! It was far more than anyone involved in its planning could have ever dreamed and it was life changing to every person involved in it in any way. It was one of those days that you will remember for a long time!

It all began a year ago when Roberta Edwards agreed to be the speaker of this year’s event. She has close ties with several members at PBL and is known by most as she often worships with us when she is returning to Port au Prince after visiting the states. There was no way any could have imagined what would transpire in the year before she came to speak.

How could any of us forget hearing about the earthquake in Haiti and wondering if Roberta and her family were safe? We soon learned that Roberta’s parents had taken her on a Caribbean cruise—her first vacation since she went to Haiti in 1995. She left the cruise and came through West Palm Beach en route to Port au Prince, and this church provided the cash she would later need when she arrived at her home. How thankful we were that Palm Beach Lakes could play such a vital role as the events unfolded.

As the date approached for this year’s event so many became actively involved in ensuring that this event would change the lives of many and bring glory to God. Behind the scenes, our ladies were scurrying about dealing with the vital details. We owe a great debt to all of these who gave so willingly of their time.

When the time arrived for there to be “visible” activity, it became apparent that something great was about to happen. Additional advertizing had to be printed as our ladies told their friends about the event. Then last week the response in getting tables and chairs arranged, decorating tables, purchasing food and so many more activities created more excitement.

When the night arrived, it all came together. The 330 women present was the largest number we have ever had attend. The leaders in the devotional and in other public participation set the tone for the evening and Roberta did the rest.

One special word of thanks to all the men involved in the kitchen, in serving the food and in patrolling the parking lot. Their attitude of service and devotion to making the evening exceptional was exemplary. Thanks, guys.

Lives were changed. I hope you were part of it!
