Let's Go Back to the Bible

Will we be “finished”?

Jesus lived a short life of 33 years. His ministry on earth lasted only three-and-a-half years. Yet, think of all that He accomplished. How did He do so much in so little time? In His dying breath, He proclaimed, “It is finished” (John 19:30). Jesus had “finished the work which [the Father had] given [Him] to do” (John 17:4).

Similarly, the apostle Paul reached the end of his life and proclaimed, “I have finished the race” (2 Tim. 4:7). Paul had worked diligently from the time of his conversion and was able to say that the work the Lord had given him to do had been done. What about you? When you reach the end, you will certainly “be finished,” for there will be nothing else you can do at that point. But, will you “have finished” the work that He gave you to do? Is there anything that you are willing to leave “unfinished” when your end comes? What is there that you can do today to further “finish” His work?
