Let's Go Back to the Bible

Your prayers can be hindered

There is an interesting statement made to husbands in 1 Peter 3:7. They are admonished to “dwell with [the wife] with understanding, giving honor to the wife…that your prayers may not be hindered” (1 Pet. 3:7). What? Wait a minute! You mean that something we do or don’t do can  interrupt or block our prayers on their way to our Father? That’s exactly what Peter is saying!

Husbands need to know that a right relationship with God requires a right relationship with their spouse. But, it is not just husbands. Wives need to know that a right relationship with God requires a right relationship with their spouse. But, it not just husbands and wives. Every Christian needs to know that a right relationship with God requires a right relationship with our fellowman. Our own worship (Matt. 5:23-24), our own forgiveness (Matt. 6:14-15), our own access to God (1 Pet. 3:7), even our own eternity (Heb. 12:14) can be impacted by our relationships with others! God, help me to be who You would have me to be!
