Let's Go Back to the Bible

Would they know who to call?

“In case of emergency, please provide contact information.” That statement is found on many forms that you’ll fill out in your lifetime: forms for your child to attend a camp, forms at your child’s school, forms at your doctor’s office, forms before a medical procedure, etc. They need to know who to contact, in case something happens.

The following message was left on a church answering machine: “I’m calling about Tommy. I think he’s a member there. I just got word that he is in the hospital. Just thought I would let you all know.” The caller did not know anyone at the church; the church did not know the caller. BUT, the caller knew (1) where Tommy went to church, (2) that the church was a big deal to Tommy, (3) that Tommy must be a big deal to the church, (4) the church was the place to call.

This made me wonder about the rest of us. “In case of emergency,” would anyone in our lives think to contact the church? Is the church that important to us? Do people know it?
