Let's Go Back to the Bible

Who are you following?

When many of Jesus’ disciples turned and “walked with Him no more,” Jesus asked the apostles, “Do you also want to go away?” Peter responded, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:66-68). Great point! Why would I follow anyone other than Jesus? Why would I listen to any other words than “the words of eternal life” in the Bible?

I want to ask a very delicate question: In your church, do you hear (i.e., have revered) the name of Jesus and only His words, or do you often hear (i.e., have revered) the name of a human and his/her words? For example, in your church, do you hear revered and the teachings exalted of men/women like John Calvin, Martin Luther, John Wesley, Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, Pope Francis, Mary Baker Eddy, Ellen G. White, Billy Graham, Rick Warren, John Maxwell, etc.?

Admittedly, some humans have done and said great things. But, is your faith in a man and what he taught? Or is your faith in Jesus and what He teaches? “To whom shall we go?”
