Let's Go Back to the Bible

When harvest is past and summer is ended

Words that sadly depict the end-of-the-line for some can be a wake-up call for others. Such is the case with the realization that finally came upon Judah while in captivity. Here are some of the saddest words in the Bible: “The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved!” (Jer. 8:20). We are not saved! Could you imagine saying that? We are not saved!

Oh, they certainly had opportunities to repent and make the necessary changes to affect a different outcome, but like so many, they let those opportunities pass them by. And, now, it was too late and hope was lost. If only they had seized those opportunities to change, while they still had opportunity to change!

One day, our harvest will have passed. One day, our summer will have ended. When that day comes, will we be saved? Will we be right with God and prepared for eternity? What are you doing with the time and opportunities that you have right now to affect your eternity?
