Let's Go Back to the Bible

The world hates Christians

Hate is such a strong word and a strong emotion. It is definitely not something upon which we like to dwell or a topic that is comfortable to discuss. But, as Christians, we might as well face the facts — we are hated. There are those in this world who despise us simply because of our devotion to Jesus Christ. But, this should not surprise us…or deter us.

Christians are warned, “Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you” (1 John 3:13). Consider these words of Jesus, “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you” (John 15:18-19).

So, what are we supposed to do? Remember, “Blessed are you when men hate you” (Luke 6:22). Remember, “Do good to those who hate you, and pray for” them (Matt. 5:44). Remember, “Great is your reward in heaven” (Matt. 5:12). Remember, God loves you!
