Let's Go Back to the Bible

Repay no one evil for evil

Has someone ever done you wrong? Or, should I ask, how recent was the last time someone did you wrong? It’s happened to all of us–even Jesus! While we cannot control how others treat us, God has put it 100% within our control how we respond. Thus, He commands us, “Never pay back evil for evil to anyone” (Rom. 12:17). Think about that word “never” and that word “anyone.” Wow! Jesus instructs us to not have “an eye for an eye” mentality, “But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also” (Matt. 5:38-39).  2019-04-10-Repay-no-one-evil-for-evil

There is always someone who responds to this and says, “Yeah, but…You don’t know what he did! Yeah, but…You don’t know what she said!” Brother and sister in Christ, Jesus didn’t leave ANY room for a “yeah, but”! He said, “Never” (Rom. 12:17). He said, “Anyone” (Rom. 12:17). He said, “Whoever” (Matt. 5:39).

Keep turning the cheek! Don’t repay evil, but “overcome evil with good” (Rom. 12:21)!
