Let's Go Back to the Bible

Read it…for yourself?

How many people have you heard criticizing the Bible but they’ve never read it themselves? They make comments like: “The Bible is full of contradictions.” “The Bible is full of errors.” “The Bible is just a book full of kid stories.” Such bold and reckless claims, yet they’ve never read it.

How many people have you heard teaching the Bible but they’ve never read it themselves? There are  teachers and preachers who teach the Bible (or at least certain parts of it or what someone else has written about it) but they’ve never actually read it and studied it themselves.

How many people have you heard believing the Bible but they’ve never read it themselves? They have heard other people talk so glowingly about it that they base their faith on the words of another rather than the words of the Book itself.

Now, of these three examples, which one is acceptable? Is it acceptable to criticize the Bible without ever reading it? Is it acceptable to teach the Bible without ever reading it? Is it acceptable to believe the Bible without ever reading it? Looks like we’d better read it!
