A friend of mine was going through a series of very difficult trials, and the troubles seemed to keep piling higher and higher. Like many of us who have been challenged by the adversities of life, this fellow Christian dispiritedly texted, “I’m not strong enough for this,” but probably did not anticipate the response that began, “You’re right! YOU are not!”
How many of us have been in a tough spot in life and thought we were there alone? How many of us have had our load of cares get heavier and heavier and thought we could no longer bear it? How many of us have thought to ourselves or said out loud, “I’m not strong enough for this”?
The truth that Jesus so desperately wants us to recognize is that we are NOT strong enough to handle these hardships on our own! BUT HE IS! Say this with me, “My help cometh from the Lord” (Psa. 121:2). When everything is against me and no one else can help, “The Lord stands with me and strengthens me” (cf. 2 Tim. 4:17). I’m not strong enough! But He is!
