Let's Go Back to the Bible

“The Law makes rebels”?

I started reading a “religious” book this morning that is written (supposedly) for “Christians” to help them have a closer relationship with God and a better understanding of grace. The very first sentence of the book in chapter one states, “The Law makes rebels of people who want to love and be loved.” My one-word commentary of that statement is: WRONG!

There is a massive movement of people who claim to follow Christ which has been trying to separate (1) law, commands and obedience from (2) love, grace and peace. But, guess what? Those CANNOT be separated, because GOD (yes, God!) is the One who inseparably fastened them together. Jesus said, “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments” (John 14:15). “This is the love of God, that we keep His commandments” (1 John 5:3).

Here’s a question: If law makes rebels of people who want to love, should parents eliminate all rules so that love can exist in the home? How ridiculous! Law and love are not mutually exclusive!
