Let's Go Back to the Bible

“I just feel that’s too slow!”

An elderly gentleman was driving through a residential neighborhood and was pulled over by a police officer. “Sir, do you know why I pulled you over?” “No, Officer, I don’t understand.” “Sir, you were driving 50 miles per hour in a 30 mile-an-hour zone.” “Well, Officer, I saw that sign back there, but it’s a four-lane road with plenty of room, and I just feel that 30 is too slow.”

What do you suppose happened next? This man knew the law, he saw in clear print the rules for that road, but he elevated his personal opinion (a.k.a. feelings) above the law. Within five minutes, the Officer had written out and handed over the citation. Feelings don’t change the law! Read that again: Feelings don’t change the law!

All too often today, people elevate their personal opinions (a.k.a. feelings) over the law of God. They know His law, read His law, are taught His law, but follow up with, “…But I just feel in my heart that my way is ok.” If you follow your feelings rather than God’s law, they will condemn you. Read Galatians 1:6-10; Acts 23:1; Proverbs 28:26; 14:12; 2 Samuel 6:3-7.
