Let's Go Back to the Bible

“God said…and it was so!”

There is no chapter in the Bible more fascinating, thrilling and profound than the first chapter of the Bible. There are 31 verses and the name “God” is found 32 times and the masculine, personal pronoun “He” is found 6 times (for a total of 38 times). What is that first chapter about? GOD! Five times, “God created.” Five times, “God made.”  One time, “God set.” Two times, “God divided.” Five times, “God called.” Two times, “God blessed.” Seven times, “God saw.”

Ten times in this chapter we read, “God said.” Think about that for a minute. In order to create, make, set and divide everything in six days, “God said.” In other words, “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth…For He spoke, and it was done” (Psa. 33:6, 9). Everything in God’s creation responded to Him. Six times in the chapter we read this expression, “and it was so.” “God said…and it was so.”

How do you respond to God’s words? Could it be said of you–“and it was so”?
