Let's Go Back to the Bible

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”

Did you know that these eight words are a quotation from the Old Testament?  With the dearth of Bible knowledge that is prevalent today, I know there must be several who would not recognize that as a Bible quote.  Thus is evidenced the root of our troubles today.

Notice what God said.  “My people…”  He was not talking about unbelievers or people who had never heard of God or His Word.  These were His people! “My people…for lack of knowledge.”  God’s people did not know because they had “rejected knowledge” and “forgotten the law” of God (Hos. 4:6).  The result?  “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”  Lack of knowledge of God’s Word is not something we should take lightly—it is dangerously destructive to us and others around us (now and in eternity).

How much Bible knowledge do you have?  Could you have more? Are you doing anything to prevent God saying of us today, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”?
