For those adults who are “done with school,” I suppose we left school thinking we would never have to memorize “anything else” again. For young people who are still in school and required to memorize all sorts of things for tests, I suppose one of the last things you want to do is memorize “something else.”
Can I draw your attention to the Word of God? God’s Word is not just “anything else” or just “something else” to memorize. It is all that matters! How can we be approved unto God? Know the Scriptures (2 Tim. 2:15)! How can we avoid sinning against God? Know the Scriptures (Psa. 119:11)! How can we resist temptations? Know the Scriptures (Matt. 4:1-11)! What alone can bring true joy and rejoicing to our hearts? Know the Scriptures (Jer. 15:16)!
We memorize football players, recipes, computer operations and phone numbers without even trying! Why not meditate on the Word of God and write it indelibly on your heart!
