Let's Go Back to the Bible

Masking our shame

Have you noticed what’s been happening in supermarket lines in recent years? For decades, check-out lines have been flanked by the latest issues of tabloids and popular magazines. Over the years, the cover images on many of the high-profile periodicals have grown more and more risqué, with women wearing less and less clothing. Just what every young boy standing in line with his mother needs to see, let alone the grown men who gawk at these professional models. Well, someone somewhere must have complained about those magazine covers, because many times you will now find a translucent sheet of plastic placed in front of those magazines.

Think about it. The pictures became so salacious that it was determined to slightly mask the cover. Notice, it was NOT decided to stop taking those photos. It was NOT decided to stop printing those magazines. It was NOT decided to stop placing those magazines in prime locations to reach every possible target. No! It was decided to just put a little cover over it.

When wrong is wrong, putting a mask over it doesn’t make it right (Isa. 5:20; Jer. 6:15)!
