Let's Go Back to the Bible

Making God’s Mission My Mission

So what’s your purpose in life? Some have made a “bucket list” of all the things they want to do before they “kick the bucket.” If you had such a list, what is the one thing above all else on it?

May I suggest that at the top of everyone’s list should be the determination to make their mission in life identical with that of Jesus. He had only one life to live, how did He use it? Think of His words, “The Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). Slavery, with all its abuse abounded, but His mission was greater than to change social injustice. The world was starving, but He did not come to provide food for it—His mission was greater. His mission was peace, but not world peace. His mission was to feed starving mankind, but not with loaves and fish. His mission was justice, but justice between God and man.

If He were here today, if He were a member at Palm Beach Lakes, what would He be doing? Our mission in life can be summed up in one sentence. Make God’s mission my mission!
