Let's Go Back to the Bible

Loneliness is not the same as alone!

American screenwriter, director and film producer, Joss Whedon (known for “Avengers” and “Buffy, the Vampire Slayer”), once said, “Loneliness is about the scariest thing out there.” For too many people, they would agree with that conclusion. But, let’s make a distinction.

Do you think there were any Bible characters who experienced loneliness? Joseph? David? Jeremiah? Paul? Most certainly there were times when many of the faithful of old felt lonely, however, it can be undeniably stated that the Lord’s faithful were never alone!

David knew, “You are with me” (Psa. 23:4). Paul was confident, “No one stood with me…But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me” (2 Tim. 4:16-17). We can take confidence in our Lord’s promises: “Fear not, for I am with you” (Isa. 41:10). “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Heb. 13:5). Christians have Jesus’ promise, “I am with you always” (Matt. 28:20). Whenever you feel lonely, remember that you are never, ever alone!
