Let's Go Back to the Bible

Focus on your tent or your building?

So, which is stronger–a tent or a building? Which will last longer–a tent or a building? Which would you rather shelter you during a storm–a tent or a building? Those are not hard questions to answer. The thought behind those questions is based upon 2 Corinthians 5:1. “For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”

In this verse, our earthly house (our body, which is likened to a tent) is contrasted with our heavenly abode (which is likened to a building). One of these is earthly and the other is heavenly. One of these is temporary and the other is permanent.

Now, which of these two receives more of your attention? The earthly one or the heavenly one? The temporary one or the permanent one? Consider this heavenly urging: “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth” (Col. 3:2).
