Let's Go Back to the Bible

Do not call evil good!

As the tide of opinions shifts around us, Christians may be tempted to “go with the flow.” When people are watering down righteousness, it’s certainly easier sometimes to go along with them than it is to swim against the current. Then, when people go from watering down righteousness to trampling it underfoot and seeking to crush anyone who holds to those godly principles, it’s certainly a struggle for some Christians to rise up in unashamed defense and stand strong.

In a series of woes pronounced by God against Judah, Isaiah spoke very clearly, “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness…” (5:20). What practical steps must we learn from this “woe”?

Fellow Christian, don’t be ashamed to call evil (according to God’s standards) what it is–evil. Fellow Christian, don’t be ashamed to call good (according to God’s standards) what it is–good. Don’t be ashamed of truth (2 Tim. 2:15). Let others be ashamed (Tit. 2:8).
