Let's Go Back to the Bible

Concerned about my appearance

How much time and money have each of us spent on things that pertain to our appearance? We spend money on services and products for our hair, eyes, teeth, skin, nails, etc. We spend time bathing, cleaning, washing, brushing, combing, shaving, fixing, ironing, etc. There is nothing wrong with spending our money and time on things pertaining to our appearance, and most of us are thankful that everyone else is paying attention to how they look (and smell).

But, let me ask another question: How much time and money have each of us spent on things that pertain to our appearance in God’s eyes? It is one thing to be concerned how man sees us; it is another thing to be concerned how God sees us. How much time and money have you spent removing temptations, strengthening your faith, growing in knowledge, attending to the needs of others, speaking with others about Jesus, gathering with fellow Christians to honor Christ, etc.? All of these things (and more) affect our appearance in the eyes of God? “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God?” (Gal. 1:10). That’s a sobering question!
