Let's Go Back to the Bible

A hard lesson to learn

“I have enough.  I am satisfied.  I don’t need any more.  I’m ok with where I am in life and what I have.” For some reason, these are hard statements for human beings to make.  There are such strong cravings within us for “things,” that it is a constant struggle (seemingly) to find true, peaceful satisfaction in life.  Consider the following two verses (I’m sure you know them well):

“Now godliness with contentment is great gain” (1 Tim. 6:6).  The greatest gain to be found is that which is measured spiritually and not materially.  How do I find it or achieve it?  Godliness with contentment! The apostle Paul wrote from a Roman prison cell, “I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content” (Phil. 4:11).  Paul faced many difficult and troublesome experiences in life, but he recognized he was being taught something.  And, he learned the lesson.  He learned to be content. No matter what…no matter where…I will be content!

Can you approach life with this same mindset?  Let us try, let us pray and let us learn!
