Let's Go Back to the Bible

7 Ways My Home Is Better Because of the Lectureship

Our 16th Annual South Florida Lectureship has just finished and what a great weekend it was.  The whole design of the weekend was to use God’s Word to give us practical applications that we could go home and put into immediate use in our families—using heaven’s tools to build and improve our homes. Each lesson (even the ones for the teens and pre-teens) was prepared with seven points, to provide something tangible and ready-made to put into our “toolboxes.”  As each lesson had seven points, let me share with you seven ways in which my home was strengthened from “Heaven’s Home-Improvement Workshop.”

1. I got my husband-toes stepped on (and they needed to be). Perhaps this was true for every husband (and wife), but there were numerous areas mentioned where I can and need to improve as a husband.  Thank you to each speaker who stepped on my toes.

2. I got my father-toes stepped on (and they needed to be). Once again, this may have been true for every father (and mother), but there were so many helpful suggestions made where I should and must improve as a father.  Thank you to each speaker who stepped on my toes.

3. My girls were taught some outstanding lessons by some outstanding teachers. Hopefully every parent feels an appreciation for the PBL teachers who were willing to prepare special lessons for our children.  Thank you to each teacher who gave of their time and their heart to teach our children.

4. My family experienced the sweet fellowship of the Christian family. Surely every family who attended enjoyed the special times of visiting, talking, eating and just being around their extended family.  Thank you to each member of PBL who makes this a special place to be.

5. My girls got to hear the best preachers in the brotherhood. Undoubtedly the heart of every parent is to create a intense love for God and His Word, a goal enhanced by the efforts of our guest speakers this weekend.  Thank you to each one.

6. My family savored the delicious dinner prepared by so many. What family could not be deeply appreciative of those who smoked the meat, roasted the corn, prepared all the service elements, brought those scrumptious desserts, served in the line, cleaned up after the meal, etc.?  Thank you to each one who worked so hard.

7. My family witnessed the selfless and eager efforts of dozens and dozens of Christians. How could any family not be struck by the ever-present and ever-vigilant workers who made the whole lectureship flow so smoothly?  Thank you all!
