Let's Go Back to the Bible

Is There a Measurement Large Enough?

How does one measure the success of an event?  More specifically, how does one measure the success of the lectureship which was conducted at PBL last weekend?

First, start with 10 outstanding speakers. How can it get any better than Mark Blackwelder, Kyle Butt, Jim Day, Tommy Haynes, Dan Jenkins, Eric Lyons, Dave Miller, Deb Miller, Paul Sain and Troy Spradlin?

Then, have those speakers address 16 faith-building lessons. Is there a more faith-fortifying theme than “We Would See Jesus: The Son of God”? From eternity to His incarnation to His earthly ministry to His death to His resurrection to His ascension to His reign to His return—this is the foundation and strength of our faith!

Stir in over 250 attendees on Friday and Saturday to feast together and sing together. There were just as many positive comments made about the singing as there were about the lessons.  Gary Friedly is such an exceptional song leader!

For good measure, throw in 180 pounds of pork and 10 crates of Georgia sweet corn. When the church gathers, feed them and it’s a good event.  But, feed them Dirk’s overnight smoked BBQ and roasted corn and it’s a tremendously successful event.

However, even with all of this, the event would have fallen flat and been a disaster if it had not been for the 100+ workers and volunteers who made everything happen. Thank you to the registration workers, the ushers, the Media Center staff, the audio/video operators, the interpreters for the deaf, those who introduced speakers, those who setup up classrooms, those who cooked all night, those who worked in the kitchen, those who served in the food line, those who cleaned up after dinner, and to everyone who had any part in making our lectureship run smoothly and flawlessly.  A special word of sincere gratitude to those who taught the children’s classes, to those who housed our speakers/guests, and to Lindsey McPherson, Mike Archer, Victor Colage, Tim Fry, Tom & Rose Martens, Ruth Milton, Buzz Nelson, Linda Studer and Dirk Summerlot. I know you had a lot of people helping you, but we could not do this without you!

So, with all of these ingredients (including the fellowship enjoyed with each other), how would you measure its success?  How about…it was enormously successful!
